App for editing photos

Anyone know of a good free app for editing photo's? I basically want something where I can make the image B&W and colour only a portion of the photo - its for print to canvas, so needs to be able to be done with some decent quality.

I've got an old Photoshop version lying around somewhere, but don't feel like unpacking the garage to find it.

Use samsung standard photo editor. Go to effects and scroll all the way to the right. I think the effect is called splash. It makes it B&W and by applying the brush colour is added.

You need to select the black and white effect then click on Draw mask. Click on invert and use the eraser to remove the effect from where you want the colour to remain.
