A surprise release this afternoon.

You’d think with the eye watering price they would have gone all out with the upgrade. But with exactly the same look which apparently would mean the same design issues, and the older H2 chip, this seems a bit lazy and a rather unimportant line for them.

Older H2 chip!?

It’s the latest one.

Yeah, maybe my point wasn't clear. I was alluding to the fact that you'd think (or at least I would) that they would release Max 2's with fanfare around the new H3 chip instead of using a nealy 4 year old chip with what seems like more a fairly unimpressive incremental upgrade.

This is hardly setting the heather on fire.

I get what you are saying.

Then again some of us like myself have been actively avoiding the Max knowing it was on old hardware and now I might just be swayed on the next eBucks or other deal that comes my way.

I have yet to find a pair of headphones that start comfortable and stay comfortable.

I have Sony XM4's which I use for travel and I find them pretty comfortable, but I only use them for travel. At home I use my AirPods Pro 3 for out & about, and watching TV. And it's the spatial audio on my Apple TV that keeps niggling at me to get the Max's for the full on comfort and experience.

I've fancied a pair of Max's for the last year or so for this reason, but thought to hold off as it's not urgent and a new one might just pop up any time. Now I've got R17k of eBucks screaming at me and am tempted to blow on these when it releases later in the month :whistling:

I would not be surprised to see them on the FNB Big Day or whatever it’s called next month.

Makro have them for R7,999. I reckon if it's eBucks I'm spending (free) I'll wait for the new ones :)

I was referring to the new ones.

They seem to do some crazy **** on those FNB days on the 15th.

Just my 2c. If you are looking for an opinion for someone that was in a similar situation. I have the APM for pretty much the same reason you describe up here and pulled the trigger a few years ago already.

I have the original Max's and the AirPod Pro 2 and I use the AirPods Pro's for watching on my Apple TV. The Max's in my opinion isn't a good enough product. It is really heavy, it is inconvenient most of the time and the whole case is still problematic. Nothing significant about the update is not in available in the APP2's and that is not enough to overcome the weaknesses of the APM.

They sound okay, the ANC is probably on par with the XM4's, but they get uncomfortable after watching two longer shows.

I would suggest you borrow a friend's and see if you are comfortable enough with using it the way you want to first before pulling the trigger.

This is in my opinion my worst apple (or any other) buy in my lifetime (and I got it for a fairly substantial discounted price) when I always feel that the APP2 or even my original APP is better than this.

Thanks for the advice. I’ve moved away from the idea after reading a bit and come to the conclusion it’s not a good product at all, much as you say.
