I was at Incredible Connection today and overheard a salesman telling a customer that you can buy and run Apple and Android apps from the Windows app store. He also said that you can the install and run these apps in Windows 8. I immediately asked him to confirm this and he said that this is what he was told when he went for training on Windows 8. I asked him to show me but rather conveniently they didn't have a login that could access the Windows app store. I had to leave just after that so I couldn't hang around and get them to show me this amazing new capability of Windows 8.

Does anyone here know anything about this? Sounds like a load of crap to me.

Maybe thats what the salesman was talking about. He didn't say anything about emulation. Made it seem as if it was going to run Apple apps natively. He was trying to sell a R19,999 laptop to someone. Probably was a bit loose with the truth.

Heh - I would have just gone up to him and told him that he needs to re-do his Windows 8 training. Clearly he missed a few points and filled in his own gaps.

As someone stated about, Microsoft wish they could do this.

To answer the OP's question: Complete and utter rubbish.

I'm going to visit Incredible Connection again soon. I have a few choice words for that salesman...

I don't see the windows 8 option on the blue stacks website only windows 7 and lower

I suspect said sales man meant that you can buy Apps in Windows 8 "like" you do on Android and "like" you do on iOS.

Basically referring to the way in which the Marketplace works and not that you can actually install applications from those operating systems.

Sadly he is a salesman, he will say anything under the sun to do a deal. The sad part isn't the fact that he will say anything, but rather that most of the customers will believe him, as they don't know better.

Back on topic, impossible to run physical iOS and android applications on windows without an emulator, like Bluestacks.

Sounds about as informed as your typical IC salesman.

Microsoft wishes this were the case.
I started to laugh at this point...
Why would MS wish their OS could run Apple apps? If they could, MS would definitely not be happy about it. They have their own useless apps to flaunt.

Because their App Store is paltry compared to Apple. If Microsoft could get all the apps available for iOS and OSX to run on their machines natively they would be over the moon. Especially for their mobile devices. App store content is a major factor in driving sales, if they had more apps to run they could sell more machines.
