Those only apply to physical things, like petrol etc. This is digital. There will never be a shortage because it is not physical. This is just pure greed. It's not like they're going to run out of her mp3's.

That's what I said earlier... There's a fair price for digital content...and that price should not be influenced by demand and supply as it is inexhaustible.

Could be worse... She could have had Joe Jackson as her father... He'd be selling TV rights to the funeral and advertising space on the coffin.
I got to see Whitney in Cape Town in the mid nineties and, 'tho I wouldn't argue that she had talent, I question her relevance over the past decade or so. That said, I can't think of a record label that hasn't cashed in after an artists death... Universal had a new Amy Winehouse album out a couple of months after she died and the Jackson family squeezed out an album and a movie.
 
Her album prices rise and at the same time Crack, Heroin and Cocaine prices plummet due to sudden oversupply in the market!

Not necessarily, you look at Steam (the online service where you can by digital copies of games) ... sometimes a game will be out for less than a year but the price will drop to less than half, because it wasn't selling well. Then you get games that stay popular and the price of these don't drop for a full year.

Well, obviously if something is not selling, the price will drop. And similarly, if something is selling well, the price won't change (except go up because of greedy corporates).

It just makes good business sense to raise the price of a product which is going to receive a surge of popularity for a while. Businesses are there to make money and if consumers still find the product worth it, then I don't see a problem here.

Sure, I agree, but in the case of using someone's death to capitalize is just not ethical, IMO.

She had none. She may have inspired some people to go into music, but if she hadn't someone else would have.

More likely alcohol and pharmaceutical company stock prices will plummet. Those are sources of the drugs she was abusing.
