Apple considering OpenAI and Anthropic for new version of Siri

Apple is considering using artificial intelligence technology from Anthropic or OpenAI to power a new version of Siri, sidelining its own in-house models in a potentially blockbuster move aimed at turning around its flailing AI effort.

The iPhone maker has talked with both companies about using their large language models for Siri, according to people familiar with the discussions.

Doubt it their own cloud model is already at GPT 4o levels. Maybe they'll offer it as an option like they do now.

yeah they needed some third party assistance since their own efforts regarding this as well as generative AI have been in one word "dismal" at best, and they have some catching up to do

There is clutching at straws and then there's this. One line thrown in to give the Apple faithful some hope. This is after a whole article about how much their revenue increased from people who should know better spending money on apps.
Ah yes maybe it’s apps worth spending money on.
