Apple Event Live Stream - 27 Oct 2016

Never thought I see the day when Microsoft presents more alluring hardware than Apple.
Touch strip -- Pffft... have you seen the prices... Not forgetting spec appears on par with 2012 MBPs.

Going to keep my 15" MBP and iMac... until... either Microsoft can either pull a iOS / macOS move and build a solid bridge, or Apple wakes the f..k up and makes something worthwhile.

Lenovo also had a Touch Bar in 2014 on the Lenovo X1 Carbon. That was shortlived

NC

Still use Total Commander occasionally.

Having autocorrect suggestions on the keyboard doesn't make much sense. I type without looking on the keyboard

Yeah I don't get that either, but then I can type.

However the most nonsensical thing for me of that entire presentation was the Apple TV.

Why? Because it still doesn't have Multi-user support and yet everything they were punting really need multi-user support to be useful.

I mean now they add Twitter stuff and universal iPhone/iPad support for the TV app. But my wife doesn't want to see my Twitter **** on the TV and I don't want to see her TV shows and stuff on my iPad.

They really should just take the Apple Remote app one step further and let the Apple ID using that app become the control account while operating the Apple TV.

Apart from the YouTube app being useless we now have to share one history and subscription list. Same goes for Apple Music etc.

I don't know how they get Family Sharing so right but this so wrong.

Touch bar is interesting but why the hell make it so short?!

Biggest problem is looking away from the screen to use it. Problematic for touch typers.

Short, it's as long as the keyboard is wide? How do you make it larger than the physical size of the laptop?

The typing stuff is stupid for someone who can type I agree, but the per App functionality should be cool.

Untimely thought its for average joe. Your power users already know all the shortcuts and will use them long before looking for the new button on the bar.

Typical Apple event ... our new gizmo is thinner, lighter, shinier, a little faster, and has some weird gimmicks which will CHANGE THE WORLD. Oh, and the price is higher (but they never mention that part).

Do we really need our e-mail editor to start suggesting canned replies to us? Is that what human communication has become?

Is the price really higher though?

I haven't gone to work it out but the base spec seems to have gone up while the price seemed reasonable and now has Retina across the board.

So short of calculating it I would imagine the spec is much higher for similar money.
