“I think Tesla is on the best direction right now. They’ve put an awful lot of effort into very risky things,” Wozniak said. “They started with a car—the Tesla Model S—that made little sense in engineering terms in how much you have to build for what price and what the market will be.”

It’s precisely that kind of attitude that won Woz’s admiration. “I’m going to bet on Tesla,” he added.

Meh, regardless of the money, Musk is known for bold moves and grand thinking- I'm with Woz, the man has the brains to think up excellent ideas / recognise them when he sees them, and the balls to go for it. Backed with cash, he gets things done. Apple are in a fairly tight, niche product range at the moment. They haven't done anythign new since the Apple Watch, which itself is nothing spectacular.

Apple honestly haven't done anything spectacularly new in a a very long time. They are good at taking existing ideas and making them work better, or package them better.

True. Which is a skill in itself and kudos to them for it. I feel like without Jobs at the helm, the days of fantastic new products are probably behind us. They'll continue making high quality versions of preexisting things, but I don't see anything new on the horizon.

iMac, iPod, even iPhone - not new, but they revolutionized the way we view products and what we expect from them. Hopefully they do come up with some great new ideas.
