Apple HomePod speaker launch date set

Whew ... a little late to the party again :/

Apple has launched its HomePod speaker, which will start shipping from 9 February.

The smart speaker will be available for preorder from 26 January, priced at $349.

Apple stated that the speaker will be available in the US, UK, and Australia as part of the launch wave.

The HomePod will then be made available in France and Germany “this spring”.

The HomePod is compatible with the iPhone 5s or later, iPad Pro, iPad Air or later, iPad mini 2 or later, or iPod touch (6th gen) with iOS 11.2.5 or later.

It boggles my mind that Apple has not invested more resources into Siri. AI is clearly paramount to the future of home and personal tech products, and yet they've let Siri become a drooling idiot compared to Google Home and Alexa. Wtf.

While I understand the Apple mentality to a certain degree to pair Apple with Apple, such as the watch etc, they are surely loosing out on massive potential android market by not making their device compatible with anything else. But then again I suppose that is why stuff just works seamlessly
