Apple iPhone 17 thread

iStore Canal Walk has quite a few normal 17's. I just picked up a blue one and a black one, they had 20 blue and 3 black

No one seems to have Airpods Pro 3's in stock - not that I was rushing out - I'm still two minded (since there's nothing wrong with my 2 Pro's except that it's a lightning port) and wondering whether an H3 version will be released soon

Picked up my phone earlier this evening, not sure I'm going to use it yet, waiting on screen guard and cover to be delivered 😅 . Scored a free pair of AirPods 4 and charging block as part of the upgrade.

I preordered and eventually got on Wednesday from Takealot. And I have to say, for me it’s a massive leap from my 2s because they fit like a dream. The 2s sat quite okay, but these I feel like I could take into a mosh pit and still have them firmly fitted. And that makes the ANC quite incredible and much better than before, so much so that no doubt they will be challenging my Sony XM4s when I fly long haul.

Of course much of this is down to the fit and that is going to be different for everyone. But for me, the fit of the Pro 1 was quite okay but not anywhere near optimal. Then the 2s fitted so much better but still I’d have to reset by pushing them into my ear every now and again. Now the 3s, I just can’t tell you how much of a difference it makes for me. It’s only been a couple of days but I wear a lot and so far I am so happy with them.

iPhone Air impresses with durability and almost matches the iPhone 17 Pro

Allstate Protection Plans evaluated how durable the new iPhone Air and iPhone 17 Pro are with some more scientific drop and bend tests. The purpose of the test was to assess how the new designs have affected durability and provide people with a sense of what might happen during everyday use.

Starting with the bend, the iPhone 17 Pro withstood more than 90 kg of pressure, while the Air bent at 86 kg of pressure, despite being only 5.6 mm thick. Both devices remained functional after being bent, and testers say this is more than any scenario under everyday use would demand. It's clear then that the iPhone Air's titanium frame is quite sturdy.

When it comes to drop tests, however, the iPhone Air suffers more damage than its 17 Pro counterpart. While both devices survived a 1.8-meter drop test on their displays, meaning they remained functional, the Ceramic Shield 2 panels shattered and had edges too sharp to be used with bare hands.
