Hi there,

I took my Macbook to the istore in vodaworld for repairs on the heat sink or possibly the logic board :( and they said it will have to be sent away to their workshop to get fixed. My question is if anyone here has had any experience with the repairs of a macs here in SA?

What time frame for the repairs might I be looking at? The guys at the store were very vague. One guy said maybe 10 days other said 3 weeks...

Thanks

It gets sent straight to the core workshop, expect anything from 5 - 10 days.
Sadly, this is usually the case anywhere else as well, since the parts take that long.
Honestly, I would have rather taken it to digicape in rivonia.....

Thanks guys I went and got my Macbook back from the iStore before they could send it away and took it to Didicape. I will agree their service is WAY better and also have their workshop on site which makes it so much better.

Yup Digicape is an accredited Apple repair centre. They sorted out my iMac im a jiffy a couple of months back!

So what is the process at Digicape? Do you have to call ahead and book it in, or just pitch up? Do they fix it while you wait if they have the parts on site?

I just pitched up and booked my MacBook in. They took 2 days to see what the problem was then they quoted me, paid 50% deposit of the part then they order it. Depending if the supplier has stock they said it would take another 2 days otherwise if not anything between 5-7 days.

I dont think there is a single repair centre that will replace parts on the spot..
Almost no one carries immediate spares unless u are super lucky
