Apple Pay could launch in SA soon

Apple Pay may be launching soon in South Africa, with a number of local banks indicating incoming support for the payment platform through information on their websites and banking apps.

It works but not always... best to keep your card handy.

If discovery launches it soon enough I am opening an account there

I’ve used my Garmin Fenix 6 (“Garmin Pay”) for all POS payments during the last year and a bit. No issues it just works. Tap watch and go.

While Apple Pay is late to the party I’m sure it will be very useful. Great feature

I tried but failed hard. Hopefully up and running by next week.

Meh, more power to the Silicon Valley Titans.

I guess we will see? There has been speculation for years now but it does make sense with small banks due to cost.

If it does happen maybe it will spur FNB on to introduce it.

How many payment solutions do we need?
very soon even a 32Gb phone won't be enough to store all the banking, payment and store apps.

Same, I got rid of my Apple Watch so that I can have the Garmin Pay and now I've gotten rid of my iPhone as well because really, Apple is slacking behind.

Maybe all the banks are going to launch on the same day. can it just happen already.
It’s all up to Apple now. They just need to flip the switch

don't need apple pay when you can run fast enough
