Hi Guys

With a few of the smart watches coming out with nfc payments; is there any view when it will be available in SA. Fnb offers nfc payments through your smartphone so I guess this to be the next step?
 
Does it not work on the same system as the tap and go some cards have?

It does, not it also requires specific support from each individual bank. As an example, FitbitPay has very little support even abroad, from memory only 2 banks support it in the UK whilst ApplePay is supported by all the big banks.
 
And Garmin pay? I will load my card and test it next week. Supper convenient when going for a run or cycle if it works.

In the UK? lol

United Kingdom

• boon. by Wirecard Never heard of them, no idea who they are
• Danske Bank (Mastercard) Very small bank, handful of branches, insignificant
• Santander High Street bank, but not one of the market leaders
• Starling Bank (Mastercard) Very small bank, no branches, online presence only

It's a long way from decent support here. Until the big banks like Lloyds, Halifax, HSBC, NatWest,Barclays, Nationwide etc support it, it's a very niche product.

I think just A to D proves the point.

FitbitPay is insignificant and hardly well supported...

FNB Pay is everything that Apple Pay is - it's a tokenization of the credit card. Master card has the same, Apple just branded their implementation of it with their name. The only Apple part about it is the token generation in the SEP.

Anyways, there is nothing else to do but wait.
