Sensationalist article failing at life.

Have you got an iPhone 3G?

If you had, you wouid know that any iPhone 3G got insanely slow after upgrading from iOS 3.1.3 to 4.0 - I always thought Apple did it deliberately to force 3G owners to upgrade to the 3GS and 4. This law suit just confirms it.

but isn't it the same thing as trying to get XP to run on a 386 with 256Mb RAM?

Nope. If you want to draw an XP comparison, it's the same as installing XP on a computer, but when Microsoft releases Service Pack 1, you find that your computer basically becomes unusable.

That is really how it went when we "upgraded" from iOS 3.1.3 to iOS 4. All iPhone 3G owners will understand what I'm talking about.....also lots of videos about it on YouTube.

Yes I do happen to own an iPhone 3G and I am very well acquanted with iOS. The culprit was spotlight, it is EXTREMELY unlikely that Apple made the 3G slow on purpose with iOS4. Disabling indexing fixed the problem, and it is permanently fixed in the 4.1 update.

The lawsuit confirms ***ol.

Spotlight is not the only culprit, but definitely a big one.

With iOS 3 you had search, which was very fast and useful & the phone was very responsive. Then spotlight took over in iOS 4 & was one of the main culprits that slowed the iPhone 3G down. But with spotlight disabled on an iPhone 3G, you can't search anything.

The iPhone 3G was definitely much more responsive with iOS 3, hence all the hacks and videos to try and downgrade from iOS 4 to iOS 3.
