Elon Musk doesn't seem to hold Apple in very high regard anymore. Musk suggested that Apple has been eager to recruit engineers and other employees who failed to pull their weight or make any significant impact while working at Tesla. As posted everywhere on Twitter, you'd think Musk would pay more attention to history and be more thoughtful in what he says:

It’s good that Apple is moving and investing in this direction. But cars are very complex compared to phones or smartwatches

Musk now, Colligan then:

We’ve learned and struggled for a few years here figuring out how to make a decent phone, PC guys are not going to just figure this out. They’re not going to just walk in.
 
IT's stupid. Most companies have employed people who didn't perform at them and then performs like a rockstar under different conditions. Stupid.
 
hehehe, gotta love that guy. Whether it's true or not, it is funny, and most un-PC for a corporate leader in this day-and-age.

Honestly, I can't help but agree with him that it's a mistake for Apple to go into cars.
 
Musk is awesome. I wish all multi-billionaires had his mad scientist desire to change the world with crazy ideas and elaborate schemes.
 
Love his comments/general attitude when the attempt and fail to land their re-usable rockets on the barge.

Innovators like Musk are rare...and they will almost always succeed given enough time and money
 

Elon would encourage more companies to build electric vehicles. This is why he opened all its electric patents to outside use.
The quicker we replace all fossil fueled ground transportation the better
