OK so I am getting my Apple tv from the states pretty soon (within a week or 2)

Are there any people here with an apple tv? I would like to use this thread for us to start sharing hacks/tweaks etc on how to get the most out of your Apple TV

I have the ATV 2g. No tweaks that you can do just yet. Waiting for these guys http://firecore.com/ to release aTVFlash (black).

If they can bring the same features to the new ATV as they did with the 1st gen I'll be a happy camper.

Well, it is already jailbroken, you can even install some iphone apps (they opbviously wont really run at this point... :) )

There are quite a number of apps in the pipeline, to be released soon. Even Cydia apps on its way so it looks quite promising

aTVFlashBack looks quite promising too...

Nice... it does not seem 'production ready' yet, but will be pretty awesome to look at!!! Nice find @Synaesthesia!

You have not pasted a link. If you are referring to http://www.awkwardtv.org/
It seems it is only for the old original apple tv, and not really maintained anymore. I am sure, however, that there will be some cydia apps popping up for it soon

I saw last night. Considering to buy it while it is still cheaper... but looks awesome!

It's still looking a little incomplete; missing things like apps, VPN, xbmc, ... Hopefully in time this will surpass the features of the old atv.

Well it seems the plan is to implement all the old apple tv features, I don't want to buy too early, the later you buy, the more updates you might get. But if you wait too long they slap another $10 on the price! I'm sure most features will be included then at least!

Without at least a real VPN option like the iPhone / iPad, access to hulu, netflix, bbc, etc won't be possible.
Considering it runs iOS it should be fairly easy for them to implement it... Hope they do as it would turn the ATV into a cheap alternative to using a Mac mini as fully fledged media centre.

Hi All, got my apple tv 2 weeks ago , did the upgrade to the latest firmware without saving blobs so kinda stuffed for atvflash at the mo, however still a great device
netflix works brilliantly with vpn (using strongvpn) streaming movies is smooth from netflix
use iflicks (iflicksapp.com) get the beta which allows flattening of mkv to quicktime as well as tagging of tv shows (takes 3-4mins) to flatten mkv to mp4 without quality loss
divx is a pain though to convert.

using my ipad with airvideoenabler(jailbreak app) airplay streaming of video works well too

so far very happy with my apple tv

hi All. using apple Tv 2nd gen. its working like a dream. streaming from itunes store and netflix really well, my 4Mbps line has made all the difference.I have a router flashed with DD-WRT system and installed the vpn directly on the router so all devices connecting to it are on netflix no worries. My torrents converted via handbrake to apple tv spec stream perfectly when home sharing from iutmnes on the macbook pro. Really happy with it cant wait for the beta to be sorted so i can jail break it.
