Hi all, getting two Apple TV 3 units this week :)

I'm currently streaming movies on my laptop connected to a projector and will be looking at doing this and more with the Apple TV.

What I'd like is something with the latest movies and series - Hulu, Netflix?

Over and above that, what would you all recommend for documentaries, news and sports?

Essentially, I'd like to have it compete with DStv at a minimal cost. I don't want to subscribe to more than one movie service at this stage. Which one is the best?

Is it possible to AirPlay Safari / any web browser to an Apple TV to stream all the other things I can't get through the streaming service?
 
Neither Netflix or Hulu really have "new" movies.

Hulu has a lot of new TV but their movie selection is much to be desired.

Netflix has a great catalog of older and relatively new content as well as a lot of Netflix original content (OITNB, Narcos, etc) but movies take a while to reach the platform.


I personally go for Netflix, if you want the latest movies the best would be to rent from iTunes.
 
The Apple TV really is great.

My usage is :
Subscribe to Netflix, Hulu+ and HBO Now (This is mainly for TV Show and Documentaries)
Rent movies on iTunes

Sports you would need to separately subscribe to HFL, NHL, MLB, etc

And yes, you can AirPlay anything from Safari to your Apple TV

Yep, you must be very desperate or have money to burn to rent movies on iTunes. Unfortunately there aren't that many alternatives that provide that size catalog for much cheaper.
 
So I've been playing with it and I'm quite impressed so far :)

Just wondering if there's an app for live freeview TV I can install on my iPhone to AirPlay to the Apple TV?
 
What made you get atv3 instead of the 4 coming out soon, price?

I played around with a friends atv3 and it was very nice, ill definitely be purchasing the new one, the airplay on these things is flawless from what i have read and seen for myself.

I do quite like AirPlay but I'm genuinely impressed by Netflix!
