I recently got an Apple TV.

The problem that I am having with it, is that it is taking ages to load the movies and photos from my iTunes library. It shows the movie on the TV, but when I hit play, it takes forever to load!

I have spoken to two of my buddies with Apple TVs and neither of them has the same problems.

I have tried to reset and reatart everything, with no luck!

Anyone out there got any ideas to help me out?

What is the bandwidth like on your network? How far apart is the Apple TV from the router? Do you extend your network?

I've got a 4Mbps line (I'm in Ellisras, it's the best we can get!) and the router and Apple TV are next to each other. The Mac is in another room.

The internet on both the Mac and the Apple TV works fine.

I don't extend my network.

Hmm...interesting. It should work fine.
What is the available bandwidth of your network? (Not your internet connection speed)

Sorry, this is probably a stupid question, but how do I check the available bandwidth?

Well, if you have a wirelessN network, and you are not downloading or streaming something in HD, you should have enough bandwidth

Deactivate and reactivate home sharing on both your computer and your Apple TV. . Also. Connect the APPLE tv with a LAN cable instead of using it via wifi.

4mb should be fine for streaming movies. However, if there is some other activity going on then you might have problems. Check if anyone is connecting to your router while you are trying to load a movie(is your router password protected ?). There could also be a problem on your line at your exchange is which is preventing your router from achieving the required speeds.

It might also be that your router just cant cope. Is it very old ?

Google your router model and also google "router streaming video"
