Apple Watch thread

Wonder how likely that the S8 pre-orders ship tomorrow. Received my iCare warranty via email today, and status says “completed”(?)…

That could just be a reference to the pre-order “part” being done, I guess…

Anyone heard anything?

Seems to be out for delivery already. Wow. Didn’t expect it to be so soon.

Let us know how it goes!

I bought mine on Takealot (so no iCare). Still says next Friday (30th) :crying:

I've never owned an Apple Watch before because of battery life, so looking forward to the Ultra that I won't have to charge as often

Did anyone else get this mail with their pre-order? Hoping I will get it on FridayView attachment 1386266

No you won’t, I did the preorder last year, never again, they handed it to the courier on release day. Waited all the way till Monday. I’m walking into a store and walking out with 1.

Incredible connections shipping on the 29th, so that at least most will get it on release day.

Had in my hands by 12:00, so guess beginner’s luck with my first pre-order.

Upgraded from my trusty S2. Think it’s fair to say that the difference is… noticeable. Yowzers!

Lol.

So close, iStore.

This message arrived with an email this morning from them:

“Hi. We are still securing stock to fulfil your pre-order. We will let you know
as soon as stock has arrived and is on it's way to you.”

What are the requirements for an eSIM with MTN? I know contract but like Vodacom does not allow it on Topup.

No intention of taking my main line to contract so want something purely for the ultra so data only.

Dunno if you can get an eSIM loaded onto the watch unless the corresponding physical SIM is in your iPhone. Which means that you'll have to use the physical SIM slot in your iPhone for your contract, and then your main line will have to be on your iPhone's eSIM slot. Meaning your main line has to go on a contract?

It arrived on Friday (Launch Day) by the way. 1PM

The eSim setup was really seamless with Vodacom. Did it all through the Watch app. I don't know why I didn't get a cellular model sooner!

You can just walk into istore and buy it.
The Ultra? I've already ordered that on Takealot.

iCare? Last year I also got my 13pro on Takealot, but when I went to iStore they said iCare can only be bought for devices bought from them

Are you on contract? Currently on Telkom but now need to move over to MTN or Vodacom so that I can use cellular in the Watch that should be coming today.

Yes I’m on contract with Vodacom. I have to pay R25 p/m extra after 6 months free

The person was talking ****, you can buy iCarw for any device within 30 days of purchase, they simply need to inspect the device first.

iStore refused iCare for my M1 Pro 16” MBP, on account of me buying it from Macnificent. This was a few days after receiving it. I gave them some push back and they wouldn’t budge.

That’s because the iCare is a Core specific product and not the same as Apple Care that’s why with iCare you only get like 1 screen replacement, too many restrictions but Apple Care covers quite a lot.
