Apple's next product will be called Apple Reality. (Probably.)

When the hell they EVER say any of this? Never mind the last several years.

Also the concept of Finder on a flat surface in a 3D space is idiotic and non-sensical and looks deeply dis functional.

If you wanted a new AR Finder you would simply put your folders into container in a physical spade around you that you visualise in a 3D space. Not a flat piece of Finder working the same way in front of you but with shitty hand gesture controls.

Same way a Dock you squeeze and click makes no sense.

Have you used VR? That concept is fine, and having it on a flat surface is fine, it helps with people knowing how far down to press, and if it is trying to do that for keyboard it's good, typing on VR right now is a lot of effort, usually I use Virtual Desktop and then Swype, its' quite a bit of effort so usually end up jumping into quick chats/calls in Discord instead.

Yea I have.

I’m not talking about the keyboard at all. I’m talking about further down the list in the linked website where he talks about the new and functional Finder concept.

The bit “An even more functional Finder, now with depth”

But also this is supposed to be AR not VR, so your own hand would be in the virtual space.

My point is rather there is nothing new or more functional about it, every single part of it is worse.

Putting your entire file system on the desktop around you in a “physical” space that now exists makes far more sense and can be visualised.

Just cloning the current way of things and putting that on 3D panes isn’t doing anything better and is actually worse and therefore I can’t think for a moment that any of these concept will be anywhere close to what Apple actually ends up doing.

Very happy to see I’m not delusional and that most of the twitter comments align with my own thoughts.

There’s nothing great, functional or revolutionary about this concept. It literally makes everything except for multi screen worse.
