Hi,

I'm looking for a security app for my iPad, I've tried a few but they all seem obsessed with moving photos off your camera roll and into a separate password secure area.

So what is it I need?
1) Lock the iPad, reason:if I loose, misplace it gets stolen the data on the iPad should be protected.
Data I want to protect is contact info, Payment instrument(s) details, account information and corporate files

2) If on the lock screen it could provide a my name and contact number, should a good willed soul find it they know how to return it, for a reward.

Thats pretty much it as the immediate need. A password manager would also be a welcome feature.

on the sneakier side is there an app that can keep certain contacts private, move incoming messages from selected contacts into secure private folder?

I would suggest that you look at the following Apple page:
www.apple.com/ipad/business/resources

Look into particular Security http://images.apple.com/ipad/business/docs/iOS_Security_Mar12.pdf, Mobile device management http://images.apple.com/ipad/business/docs/iOS_MDM_Mar12.pdf,intro the Apple Configurator http://images.apple.com/ipad/business/docs/iOS_Apple_Configurator_Mar12.pdf, using the Configurator http://help.apple.com/configurator/mac/1.0/, ...

This btw is Apple's page for businesses that have similar concerns to you re protection of data, ...

I would also suggest you look into an app called 1Password http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/1password-pro/id319898689?mt=8, for securing your payment, passwords, ... type stuff.

...and finally setup Apple's find iPhone/iPad/... service that is part of iCloud.

So you can easily track the location of your device from either the web, or anybody's idevice: allows you also to send messages to the device (address, contact details) or even remotely wipe the data.

Whats wrong with the built in security measures? Setting a passcode (either numerical or alphanumeric) enables encryption amd find my iPhone will let you trace/lock/wipe your iPad remotely.

A simple way to provide your contact details to someone who finds it is to add it to your lock screen wallpaper.

I find your response strange -- as that's exactly the direction I pointed him to; everything except 1Password was links to Apple's in built security. 1Password supports everything Apple doesn't provide i.e. 3rd party passwords, payment details. ...

It was a response to the OP.

I understood that; yet I think you missed that he is a very new iPad user, hence many questions will initially appear out of context.

Nothing wrong with what you suggested, its exactly what I have done thanks to [)roi(] and his friendly and helpful response to my OP.

Thanks
