Hi guys, I would love to get information on what one needs to do to apply for a cell tower in a location. I am from a rural place called Nyandeni in Libode just next to Mthatha. We struggle with signal as the closest tower is 3 villages away from ours

@GGV The proper accepted way is to apply in writing by
  1. Sending a Email to [email protected] explaining your signal problem and tower (Bts) request ensuring obtaining a Service Reference Number.
  2. If you have not received an satisfactory response within 7 days then compile an proper comprehensive written email to the [email protected] with the Service Ref as the first word of the subject to the Ceo.
This is the only known manner that produces results any other are only forum trolls :)

Hello,

We are busy with towers at Libode, one in the centre of town, another at Mount Nicholas JSS and additional two at Mpangana JSS and Moyeni. They are in the permitting process currently and will be ready to build in Q2 2020...We are expecting MTN to be first tenants...I suggest you switch to them :)

Would also like to know as I have been trying for years to get a better signal in my area, each time i log a call the feedback is, we have checked and agree that the signal is bad but need to investigate getting a tower in the area, Cell C and MTN have 100% coverage

Attention : GGV - You can speed the process up by contacting the Local Municipality and requesting they speed up the process for Cellular Site Approval and follow through with the process which involves public notices and Environmental Impact Assessments. But if it is a rural area it should be quicker as fewer people will complain and lodge objections. Once the Guys get the approval done the Tower goes up quite quickly as private companies don't waste time in putting up the tower.

@GGV both our towers at Libode Central and Mount Nicholas JSS are ready to build. However MTN has a bit of a moratorium going on as they are switching OEM vendors from Ericsson to Nokia in the Eastern Cape which is delaying rollout. My best suggestion would be to complain to ICASA, Vodacom is being very active with builds at the moment. We are also keen to put another tower to the West of central Libode, if you are interested in helping me and getting some comission PM me.
