I recently download an encryption program called usb secure for my external hard drive but now that the trial has finished, I deleted it off my hard drive.

Every time i click on the drive icon it gives me the "error application not found". Therefore I cannot access the drive. I cannot format because I have important things stored on it.

Please help!

Look at the autorun file on the USB disk (normally hidden, so you will have to set your folders to view it). It will point to an application. If the application is not on the USB drive, go and download it from the USB drive maker and copy it onto it. It should work

Rightclick the Drive and choose Explore, once you able to access the files, delete the autorun and the other leftover files from that application.

Could you explain more in detail I dont really know about all this. Thanks creeper

Most likely an Explorer tie in somewhere in the Registry. Try running a Registry cleaner (like Advanced System Care from www.iobit.com) - get the free version and run a scan. The program might have left some crap in the registry.

If you still have the program, reinstall it and try to run the uninstaller that comes with Advanced system care - it will do a power scan of the software and remove any lingering registry entries and left over files.

Tried it but still no luck

Install the security application on another PC and then copy your files off it, and then format your USB flashdrive again.

If the encryption program did what it was supposed to, then the contents of your drive are encrypted. You deleted the software that decrypts it, so the only way to access your data again is to do what is mentioned above, install the program again and copy your stuff off, or if there is an option to un-encrypt the contents, do that. You obviously need the program back to undo what it did in the first place.

I agree with South_Bit.

USB Secure can be downloaded from http://www.newsoftwares.net/usb-secure/

If it is the same application used to encrypt the drive, downloading and installing the application will in most likelihood give access to the the encrypted drive again. Assuming of course you have the password and whatever else required when the drive was originally encrypted.
