Hi guys,

My cousin has a 8 TB NAS drive that he's been collecting movies on for more than 3 years,

Many unlabeled, wrong directories, wrong filename on it, ect

Wondering if there's a program that can sift through this mess, rename according to what's on it, and organize this mess into catagories,

Let him play with all my movies, but its a very manual process, doesn't work automatically,

Is there anything better out there?

Here i thought you wanted a way to organize them for streaming where plex was going to be your answer. Seems you going to have to do some manual work

I use yammm. It automatically adds the meta, renames the files and folders and adds the box art. Just Google yammm. It runs in the background and always sorts any new movies you drop into your movie folder.

Media Center Master

I use Media Center Master to do it for me and then play it through Plex. There is a add in for Plex so that the information from MCM gets used. The premium version also allows me to set up series to automatically download whenever new episodes are available.
There is a 30 day trial version that gives you all the premium features so as long as you have a decent internet connection you should be able to do it all within the 30 days.

Download an app called TheRenamer. It's freeeee. Let's you drag and drop folders of movies and series into its action box and then finds the names.

You can then double check the rename before it executes.

I use it for anything that is not downloaded by sickbeard/sabnzbd.

Personally use tiny media manager to scrape and rename my collection. But initially to fix might be quite a process regardless of app used

This, is the correct answer.

Do all of these work with everything?
Series, movies, foregin languade films?

It works with series and movies, languages depend on the database you use. It gets all the info from online databases like theTVDB, IMDB, TV.com etc. and you can switch between them. So if the movie or series you are trying to sort is on the database you chose, it will usually work.

I have used the Renamer before, unfortunately it was very unstable, I have several hard drives, on each drive I have a folder called Movies or Series, Under each of these folders there are separate folders going from A-Z. When I drop die "Movies" folder in the renamer it gets completely confused and freezes.

I take it as not a great choice then?

No matter what program you use there is always some manual sorting and cleaning up to do.
