Hi

If I was accepted at UJ for 2016 but didn't give a reply and ended up studying at another institution, will that affect my chances of getting accepted if I were to re-apply for enrollment next year?

Not 100% sure about UJ since I have no experience with them, but you can transfer the modules you're doing from one institution to another provided that they have equivalents on the receiving institution's side. E.g., you study BSc Comp Sci, with CS 1 and Maths 1 (2 semester/year courses) at Wits/Unisa. As these modules are generally similar across universities, UJ may accept them for their BSc CS programme.

Of course, your mileage may vary, however good performance in your core modules will bode very well for acceptance at UJ. Have a chat with the people at your faculty of choice at UJ or even visit their Department to get a proper understanding on what is needed for your next application.

Also, I highly doubt that they'd hold it against you for opting to study elsewhere after their acceptance. If they do, rather move on as thats not an institution you'd want to study at imo.

Best of luck!
