Long story short, moved back from UK about a year ago, Stayed in Winston Park (Hillcrest) Durban, applied for ADSL at Telkom Shop, they phoned back a week later saying our exchange is not enabled (767) Exchange.
They said i could check online when the exchange is enabled (At the time i did not know you could check online)
Anyway i checked the exchange online via Telkoms ADSL Check every 2 weeks or so, saying it currently did not support DSL and expects Rollout in 2006, after many weeks checking i finally gave up and stuck with 128 ISDN.
Anyway, recently moved to Gillets (about 5 min away) Now i heard a lot in Gillets/Hillcrest are on 765 Exchange which IS Enabled, so i was pretty chuffed, moved into new place only to find the new house i am staying in is on the 767 exchange ARRRRGH!!
So back to 56k Modem, i thought..."What the hell..." and checked online Telkoms website to see if my new number supported ADSL....and "Wow!" It did! No more 2006 Rollout bs, it said your exchange does support etc etc providing there is enough ports etc etc....
So i told my GF, we may be able to get ADSL, and she was "Great now i can finally get work for her exams and uni projects, and of course i was thinking now i can have non stop PvP in World of Warcraft and Guildwars" HeaHea > : )
Rushed down same day, 3 weeks ago to apply for ADSL at Hillcrest Telkom Shop, signed forms and my life to Telkom....and nothing....not a call....noone to say install date, nada, nothing at all....and of course 3 weeks now...
What is the best way to ensure i got ports at my exchange and if so an installion date?
This is crazy...How much more harder can it be to install DSL than it is to have a 128kb ISDN Line?
I just hope the website is right that 767 can now support ADSL, and not just a mess up online. The lady i signed form for..asked where i stayed i said Gillets, she didnt say yes or no, just gimme the mula type attitude,
Any tips on how to make this quicker will help loads
Cheers
Rob!
