I'm flying to Amsterdam where I'll spend 4 days, thereafter off to Ireland, Scotland London (all together 11 days in Uk) and then back to Amsterdam for my flight back home.
Do I first apply for the Schengen and then the UK visa? Not sure what the criteria is for which one first.

I'm fairly sure that they are independent of one another but it's probably best to apply for the Schengen first: the UK visa may want to know from where you are arriving.

I agree. The other feeling I'm getting is that the Netherlands require to see the UK visa when applying due to the fact I'm spending more days in the UK. Ver confusing. Everything is booked and paid for. Just got to figure this one out.

As a rule of thumb you apply for the visa of the territory you enter first, first. Also, If you intend on getting outside the airport on your way back, make sure you have multiple entries on your schengen visa.

I Would do the UK visa first since you are spending most time there and then do the Schengen for Amsterdam. Just make sure you have enough time to send and receive your passport for both Visas.

Sorted. Phoned the guys at visarequest. It is UK first. Thanks guys. Yip enough time left. Leaving in June.
