I'm trying to apply for the DSL Complete package on WebAfrica.

What a mission! First you have to fill everything in online. Then they email you forms that you have to print, fill in, and fax back to them.

Then they happen to mention that you need a certified copy of your ID. Aargh! I can't get anywhere to get a copy certified during the day! So now I have to do it Saturday. And the annoying thing is that I've been waiting a week or so to apply on the 1st to get the new rates, and if they'd mentioned it on their site I could have sorted it out earlier.

Anyone else had a smoother experience?

Okay, emailed them and apparently they don't need a certified copy, just a copy. That makes it easier.

(And yes, shock, horror, this is my 4th post on WebAfrica today - I just thought it might be useful for anyone else applying.)

I dont have an ID and doubt I ever will - have you ever seen the queue at home affairs!

Anyway, Telkom doesnt require one so I'm not sure why WA should.

Unusually for WA they seem to have slipped up on the application process this time.

I mailed them and they forwarded the application document - but I do think a downloadable form should be available ( not a pdf please ! )

But this is a small oversight - by SA standards their service and support is in the stratosphere.

When I registered with WA for standard ADSL (not complete) it didn't take me more then 10 minutes. What was the form for? You're banking details?
As far as I know, I did have to provide an ID for my Telephone Line and ADSL installation (with Telkom). My ID was also the first think the Call centre would ask for since I couldn't provide them with a telephone number during the "waiting period"

How long ago did you apply with Telkom? When we applied for our line a couple of years ago, Telkom wanted everything including the ID and kitchen sink. Mind you, they pretty much wanted everything (not ID) just to upgrade the speed of my ADSL line a while back.

Hi All

Due to our huge growth in ADSL Complete Orders we are proud to announce that our clients will no longer have to provide a copy of their ID for this service. We only require the Order Form with address details if it's a 2 year contract.

Month to Month ADSL Complete accounts we will no longer require a copy of the ID OR Order Forms for, however the client needs to apply for the service online.
