I don't think they are sold in South Africa yet. The main issue for now is their limited compatibility with other Matter devices, as they currently only work with a few brands like Philips Hue.

I want to get an Aqara PIR Motion Sensor, but I'll need a hub. I have a Xiaomi Gateway that uses Zigbee, but I don't think it's compatible with Aqara devices.

Now, I'll have to buy an Aqara Hub. How compatible is the Aqara Hub M2 with other brands? Will I be able to connect my Xiaomi Zigbee device to the hub?

I am contemplating using the Home Assistant Sky Connect with my Raspberry Pi 5 instead of the Aqara Hub. I believe it will offer better compatibility with other brands.

I use the Sonoff Zigbee stick with Zigbee2MQTT and plenty of Aqara devices, they work perfectly fine without the hub

I could also not find a lot of information regarding this, so I bought it and decided to see for myself.

With Zigbee2MQTT I could configure the options for multi press and long press, with ZHA I couldn't find a way to do that

You can connect the aqara m2 hub via matter to home assistant
