Are rain 5G Routers network locked

I have been using Rain 5G LTE (Very happily) for the past 18 months. Unfortunately, the place we have just moved to falls outside of Rains coverage area. MTN and Vodacom do have coverage, and axxess (who I also have an existing account with) have good deals on sim only LTE packages.

I can kick myself because I gave away a Huawei B512 router that was not network locked a few weeks ago. Now the only LTE/5G router I have is the one I got with Rain. Will it work with an MTN/Vodacom sim from axxess, or am I going to have to buy another router?

Alternatively has anyone successfully flashed Rain router with generic firmware?

I see there is an option to change APN settings, so I am assuming it should be possible to use a different SIM card
