Yes, the sun is completely eclipsed by the clouds at the moment and the rain adds a special something as well. Amazing...

I can see it nicely, even got a photography thread on it.
But... the sun's behind the friggin curtains, so the camera can't pick up jack.

I'm so used to looking into the sun it doesn't bother me anymore. I just put on my sunglasses and I'm ready to go.

ya we have some clouds here. i took the foil that 5 roses teabags come in, and and folded it double and looked at the sun. it is getting all eerie here.

Off the top of my head - there are about up to 5 solar eclipses a year, but only about 2 of them (if at all) may be total. They are not seen all over the world - so while there are going to eclipses, it isn't necessarily true that they be visible from where you are. Yes, it will cover part of Africa - not sure if that includes South Africa though. You may need to wait until 2011 for a partial in SA.
