Hi friends

So I haven't touched an arena since lvl70 and Saturday night I joined my mate in a 2v2 team.

We had a combination of my rogue + his resto druid.

We started out losing 10 straight games, due to me trying to figure out my talents / rotations...but after that we seemed to get ourselves sorted. We ended up winning 17/35 matches and boosted our team rating from 349 to 701.

I was amazed how well the tree druid managed mana and simply outhealed all attacks on us. Eventually I switched over to full PvE gear for max damage output since his overheals on me didn't require me using any resilience.

We won most of our matches vs a paladin/DK combo's - which I thought would've been hopeless.

Which of you are in Arena teams and what class combo are your teams?

Also, what team combo do you believe to be the most difficult to beat? I would only imagine a Resto Druid/Retadin combo to be the meanest.

I play a lock/resto druid combo. Those trees DO NOT die! I think we currently on about 1100 odd, gonna be pushing for 1300 for this wednesday.

Toughest char we have to face is a disc priest. They drain the druids mana too quickly. Aside from that if i can survive the initial burst we will generally win.

ok after another 2 frustating hours of arena i have to ask.. has anyone here ever got a single piece of rated gear while in SA?

My furious and 4 sets of Deadly gear was proudly sponsored by the Vault of Archavon.

I joke, I once bought some arena stuff back in lvl70 ... but yeah ... no :/

I just hit 1850 in 2v2, which I am very proud of considering that I disconnect at least once a night and lag quite badly at times.

Now I will not play 2v2 again and farm arena points in 3v3 and 5v5 to buy all the gear. Thereafter I will try to push to 2k but doubt it as they games become quite severe at that bracket.

There is a chance that I will be back in Europe next year (yay to 50ms latency).

You only just started arena's, you cant expect to get a high rating overnight. You still have alot to learn.

Yeah i know i cant expect to get a high rating overnight...but still. The lag is beyond frustating, and the whole pole dance vibe just grates me... Maybe arena just isnt for me. Or maybe i should try 3s and 5s.

What char are you by the way?

I used to play a warrior but found it too frustrating with South African latency (all the stance dancing).

For example: Needing to spell-reflect involves: equip shield (gcd) -> switch to defensive or battle stance (gcd) -> reflect. This is simpler now as most warriors sit in battle stance since we were allowed to charge in combat, but still ... processing all that at our latencies requires more skill than I have. On the plus side it forced me to become more proactive in anticipating when someone would cast so that I could take action but I still failed in arena.

I therefore switched to ........ surprise, surprise ...... a death knight. The style is far more fluid and forgiving of poor latencies.

My 2s comp atm is either:
* disc priest/DK or retri/DK. I hit 1850 with the faceroll comp of retri/DK

My new 3s comp which is shaping up quite well is:
* disc priest/retri/DK

However I plan to change in season 7 to:
* DK/mortal strike class/healer

* My preference for ms is rogue but I think that a hunter is going to work well. Problem is finding a good hunter :) I would prefer not to team with a warrior as they have poor survivability when focussed imo. With the changes to resilience I believe that it is vital to have a mortal strike type class.

* I think that healers will be more balanced in s7. Priests will dominate in the 3s due to the synergy with rogues and mages (the infamous rmp composition). Dispelling is a big part of 3s and 5s. My personal preference if I go full cleave team (with a warrior or rogue) is for a paladin or druid. However with the buffs to shaman we could have a new force in arenas next season.

Success in arenas comes from skill; class; composition; gear; practice and determination. Don't make your life tougher than it has to be ... roll with a class/composition that works :)
