Armed Assualt 1.08 patch a must have!!

INT, and once youve used up your int then it would staer using up you local

I tried using my local WebAfrica account once and did not pick up the Arma SGS server?? Haven't tried again though. Will give it a go this afternoon.

I'm busy spending the last of my cap downloading the Euro 1.04 to 1.05 patch, and the international 1.08 patch, are these the correct ones? I don't know whether I need the international 1.05 patch or the Euro one, does it matter? Also I was wondering, if I was to get an X-DSL IS accont, ie 2G with 28 Local, If I was to play arma on the saix servers at the beginning of the month, would this use international or local bandwidth?

when I get home later I will check if it was Int or Euro as I patched it off a PC format disk 1.05. I suppose it could also depend where you got it from :p

Mine was a present bought through Kalahari.net i think lol :)

Its ok I download both last night just in case lol. I ordered on tuesday and I'm still waiting..... and post office is closed on a Sunday, damn! Must.....play......ArmA! Also can anyone recommend a good int only, and local only account? Ie one for surfing etc, and one for local gaming? Also how difficult is it to swop between accounts?

Im getting so many blue screens its putting me off this game :(

damn memory dumping..

@ b_b69sa Cool np...I cant seem to find that darn PC format right now anyway :/ . Think my father stole the cd and mag sometime ago. lol

@Raz wth?? you still having problems? Is it only AA thats causing it? Maybe try different GFX drivers like 165.01 forceware like im using at the mo. Google it as I can't provide link

K il try different forceware...

But i really dont think is graphics related

:(

Also enable extension limit in the driver settings. That supposedly avoids crashing in certain games. Although mine is disabled you never know, different brands, different OS, different everything

Lol did it this morning already, its amazing hey. I also setup teamspeak, but I really need to think about a local only account, so far I've used about 300mb of my cap, and I only downloaded the FDF pack . I guess you gotta pay to play.

Got the game (patched it) and have played a bit. I must say I'm disappointed because it's still so bug ridden . Suffering graphics problems that I thought had been sorted out.

I got a 8800GTS 340mb and no matter what my settings are whenever I go near bushes the FPS crash into the 20's . Built up areas drop to around 30 while open areas around 65. Also the missions in the campaign are broken with it giving mission accomplished before I've completed the objective amongst other problems.

Anyway I'm going to have to waste time trying to get it to work. First up is checking if I need to update my drivers :(

alanf85, just stick with it man. I'm playing on a AMD 3000+ with a Geforce 6600 AGP, but even though I'm running the game on the lowest graphics settings available at 800 x 600, this game is still too much fun online. Seriously guys, if teamwork is your thing you can't really go wrong for R130 from take2.co.za. Setup teamspeak and then the fun really begins. I get the same sensation playing this online as I do playing paintball, one wrong move and you die, and its that tension that makes the game so addictive. We'd really love to see you on the SGS server alanf85 and co. The community is super friendly. Cheers okes! :D

Oh yeah and Jonny were you playing on Sat night? I can't remeber but we got to the last 2 cities left hey! It was an awesome game with some really funny sh*t happening constantly lol. Someone took out two hangers wit a littlebird, and there is a screenshot with 12 ppl bowing down before the ammo crates, it looks like we are worshiping them lol.:D

Nah I wasn't online on Saturday. Sounds like I missed alot :)

I was visiting my Girlfriend and I also started playing my Guitar again. So had little online time this weekend.

Im back to basics with Guitar and managed to play Disturbed's Son of a Plunder song yesterday :D Started learning yesterday night and think I had it just b4 bedtime.

Maybe when I pick up again I will go back to my lame attempts at Dream Theater's music and John Petrucci's stuff :p

Anyway might see y'all online a bit tonight. (This is my 1000th posts btw :D)

Yeah been playng the campaign. Once you accept the all bugs you get a few glimpses of great fun ala OFP :)

MP looks like it will be great

EVO Map for Beginners!

Well online we play the Evolution V3 Coop map, so its people vs the bots, but its really great fun. I gave up the campaign after 2 days, the bugs are too annoying, so i'd recommend this. Its a single player version of the multiplayer map we play, there are a couple of differences tho.

Firstly in the multiplayer mode you respawn when you die, in singleplayer you need to restart, so save often. Also, the scoring and ranking system are different, but it at least gives you a feel for what its all about.

How EVO coop MP works is you need to accumulate points to increase your rank, you do this by completing side missions ie. Destroy the armoured units, or by killing enemies. The side missions are the most fun and rewarding tho, you normally get 10 or 20 points for a mission while you only get like 1 for killing a soldier. The side missions you usually do as part of a squad, as you need a few people to have a high success rate.

You can join a squad by going to the mission building, rolling your mouse wheel, and selecting request transfer. Your squad leader will then organise the mission.

The whole purpose of gaining rank is so that you unlock access to better weapons and vehicles. In the beginning you can pretty much only drive civilian cars and basic HumVees, and have access to only a basic m16 or mp5. As you rank up you will be able to drive strykers, choppers, tanks, jets etc and have access to machineguns and sniper rifles.

Once everyone is quite highly ranked and got good weapons you start assaulting cities. The first objective is to take out the radio tower, as until this is destroyed they will continue to recieve reinforcements. Then take out the shiilkas so that you can get decent air-support. After this its a case of cleaning out the city which is more difficult than it sounds. Then the process repeats.

This is a VERY basic breakdown of the game, so don't hesitate to ask for help, people will always be willing to help as we are trying our best to grow the community.

A few more things, the FDF1.1 sound pack mentioned before is a must, it improves the immersion factor hugely! Also teamspeak is not a must, but there really isn't any reason not to have it, it improves the teamwork much more and almost everyone is on it. Instructions for installing both can be found here under the forums (which you'll need to register for if you haven't already), then under FPS go to FPS Other, then the Armed Assault area.

And one last thing, try and promote this game to your friends who play online, it truly is a fantastic game and once the community is large enough we can start play Person VS Person maps rather than playing Coop VS Bots. When we get this going then the fun will REALLY begin! :D:D:D And is only R129 here

PS. Sorry about the long post :p

Nice breakdown b_boy :)

For cost sake one can also play AA on a local only account. Took me a while to figure out how :p

Basically go to multiplayer screen. Then minimise AA and dial-in your local account. Then go back into AA and enter the server address by selecting the "remote" option.

You could also wait for the multiplayer screen to time out if you are already connected to a local account before going in but I found it took way too long for me.
