Armed response and alarm installation advice

Chubb still exists? They've pretty much died out in Centurion.

Yes. But Chubb's (international) residential security company has been bought out now, so their name is changing.

I was with Chubb, alarm armed. Robbers "cleaned" me out...Insurance company paid - no questions asked.

Yeah. If your alarm system is part of your insurance contract, then all you need for it is to have the alarm set for them to pay out.

My relatives signed a 3 year with Chubb, had a break-in, lost everything and the insurance refused to pay because the alarm didn't go off even though it was armed. So they are stuck paying for a useless alarm.
Then the insurance company was just trying their luck.

Totally..

If the armed response company says the alarm was armed... then the insurance company has to pay out. Your relatives should have fought harder.

Telkom Unlimited ftw :D
Our alarm system is.... 17 years old I think. Works off the landline but has a radio backup. With the radio backup however, it cannot differentiate between a panic button and a normal alarm signal.

The newer radio systems have zones on them but you still make a valid point.

Yup. But how many old ones are still in play? Our radio one has rarely been used as the Telkom lines in our area are relatively reliable.
