Armed response contract fees.

No. Should be the same. The reaction company are only concerned with how you connect to them and sonthey get a signal when it is triggered. Anything else is up to you.

Thanks i am baffled, because i am with Monitor net and they will install a GSM devise at a cost and then my monthly fee also increases by almost R 200 a month?

DAMN that is a rip. What if you buy a new panel with that functionality?

The R200 is probably for the costs associated with the sim and unlimited sms plan which the alarm company has to pay. These devices can be configured to send sms for all actions or certain ones only, as well as remote arming etc.

R200 is steep though. Rather purchase your own GSM unit which should be around R1000. Bear in mind you will have to Rica a sim and have a monthly sms plan, depending on the number of SMS you want to receive. Also bear in mind that if you don’t recharge your sim often (I think it was 3 or 6 months), the service provider will cancel your sim.

GSM is ancient imho. Rater look at a wifi module for your specific alarm system. Should give you full control of your system remotely via app as well as notifications.

You can pick up a wifi module with full alarm panel android based efc on aliexpress for about 500. I have an older version with the sim and as pointed out it works but the sim expires. I'm planning on the wifi version of the same as a replacement

Paradox
Jablatron
Texecom

The rest have issues

This wifi module does it need a technician to install it or can you DIYE it yourself?

What panel/alarm system do you have? for most it would require a bit of technical knowledge (panel settings.dynamic dns etc), so best to utilise a techie

You should always get your alarm installed and maintained by a separate company or do it yourself if you feel confident enough. Your monitoring company should stick to monitoring and not involve itself in the actual installation or maintenance of your alarm system. Otherwise you're just going to get ripped off.

have a Texecom system

If you have the installer codes and a way to connect to your alarm system from your laptop (either via tcp/ip or a USB to serial port adapter) then it's pretty easy to make changes yourself to your alarm system. You just need to download and install the Texacom software to your laptop and then make your changes from there.

i have a Texecom system

If you have the premier panels, the texecom IP module is about R1400 (works well to arm/disarm and control from you app, but there are issues with notifications). If you have the elite panels, then the SMARTCOM is around R1800 (works well).
If you in JHB I can refer you to someone who knows the Texecom system well, DM me if you require his details
