Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack has hit out at Arsene Wenger's criticism of the Premier League leaders, after the Arsenal boss accused the Blues of tactically fouling his players.

Ballack feels the team spirit at Chelsea is stronger than ever

Wenger's side lost 2-0 to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, but after the match he claimed "we didn't get a demonstration of football" from the home side - a comment that left Ballack unhappy.

"Wenger always says things like this when he loses to find an excuse," Ballack said. "We knew the way Arsenal play. It is always the same style."

"Football is not possession of the ball and playing a nice pass - football is about winning games. That is what Manchester United showed when they played them and what we did. We derived the win because we were very effective, and that was our strategy."

Germany captain Ballack now believes that the title race is a straight shoot-out between current champions Manchester United and his Chelsea side, with Arsenal not good enough to be considered viable contenders.

"If you look now, it seems like a race between Manchester United and us. But four weeks ago, you could see how it was [different] and it can go quick when teams lose points," Ballack said.

Chelsea face Everton at Goodison Park on Wednesday looking to extend their two-point lead over United and nine point lead over Arsenal, while the Gunners face Liverpool in a game they must win to reignite their title ambitions.


Wenger needs to stop with all this BS, teams play long balls don't allow arsenal to play blah blah blah. Maybe if arsenal did not play the exact same way every game they may actually do something special, maybe if he never sold all his stars they could do something.

Arsene wenger is not an idiot or atleast he never was but i dunno the last couple seasons all he can do is moan, he does nothing to fix the obvious failures of his team. I would love to see arsenal hunting the title so if you think this is some sort of an attack on arsenal it is not. I just cannot understand why arsene who has done some amazing things at arsenal cannot fix this broken team and to me he seems like he has lost the plot and can only moan instead of looking within the team for his problems. It is always someone else's fault they lost.

It is not just about trophies it is about arsenal having good players and not being able to run with the top dogs anymore to the point cesc is now leaving in the summer, that is not a troll comment it is a fact, you do not reject a new contract if you are planning on staying do you? 120000 pounds a week as well so i doubt money is the reason he rejected it.

No point crossing the ball into the box so they are so limited as to how they can play now. Predictable in a bad way at the moment. He cannot go hitting the long ball after telling martin o neil that is all villa does .
