Article: A third believe pothole problem is diminishing

I have encountered the Dial Direct pothole brigade a few times around the northern 'burbs. Yep, holes are being patched but I doubt that they are being fixed because every time it rains the same old culprits are back.

Does "fix" mean dropping in a bit of soil and patting it down with wet cement and a layer of gravel? Surest way to really mess up the roads.

Roads are better in EL tbh... well the ones I drive on. I see there is a lot of road works happening so thats good.

New roadworks, I hope. In parts of Joburg we've had the same ol' "roadworks" going on for years and years ... traffic cones and zebra tape cordoning off a "works" area, but nothing ever happens, year in year out.

Yeah. There is one pothole around here that was probably 'fixed' more than 10 times. I'm assuming the contractor gets paid each time he 'fixes' it so where is the incentive to do a proper job?

Well all the potholes have been fixed in my area, i think with winter here it will be easier to keep them fixed as there is no rain.

Lol at that Road to Bethlehem, typical ANC run South Africa for you right there.

The potholes are as bad as ever in Southern Joburg. I guess we don't rate in terms of getting them fixed. I've reported them to the city and the pothole brigade but nothing has happened.

Last week I saw a delivery man on a motorbike take a tumble when he hit a whole mess of potholes on the corner of Durban Street and Maritzburg Street.

Then I might be one of the few that think not..... Have you seen Kempton Park streets? Grass is even growing out of the potholes, also in Kengies side they get fixed but 2 weeks later they are back....

Well, I guess it does help to report the potholes! The metro guys are there this morning, repairing the potholes.

 Crikey!! Not unlike the road from Groblersdal to Bronkhorstspruit - a bloody nightmare, where it's actually easier to tavel in the dirt next to the road where you are less likely to destroy your suspension!
