Article: ANC defends 'Kill the Boer' song

Pure diversion tactics from Julius, get the masses to focus on racial issues than what is really important (how he and others are 'stealing' money). It's the same as when he said that it's because he's an african diamond that white people wont let shine.

Simply put, he's making sure it's a racial issue rather than a corruption issue and it works pretty well. "It's not me, it's the <insert political party, racial group, country, business name here>"

Malema and the ANC are using this as a tactic to distract the masses. People on the ground are getting angrier about Malema's tenders and Jacob's failures. Its a ploy to cover up the real issues, but a dangerous ploy at that! We were able to build massive structures for the SWC and the Gautrain and yet we cant provide decent services...that is just absurd IMO.
 
Just a technicality here but Malema did not say "kill the boers" he said "shoot the boers". Now as much as some people are getting accused of defending the ANC those opposed to them need to perhaps ensure they don't misquote things for their advantage. Yes, we could interpret it to mean the same thing but bottom line is that "kill them" leaves no doubt.

Further to this everyone attacks those that defend, or even seem to defend, the ANC on here yet if many of the things said on here, by a lot of members, were said on an ANC forum, they would be viewed with as much disgust! This forum is not meant to have any political affiliations as far as I am aware... just something to ponder.

In saying this I will add that I am as appalled by his comments as the next (sensible, educated, intelligent) man.

The point is that they did not sing "kill the coolies". It is us white people at the receiving end of this hatred. What did we expect? I have certainly never expected black people to forgive and forget. It does not matter if only a few whites where guilty. Racial hatred is very common throughout the world. The first mistake was when Jan van Riebeeck desided to intrude in Africa. Who gave him that right? The only reason we have made it this far is because we still hold ecenomic power. Unfortunately that will change much sooner than later. We have to be realistic. I have resigned my job, got permanent residency and will be joining the rest of our people in Perth. That is where I belong. Actually I belong in France, but let's not get technical. :)

We are aware that the ANC at present seems to condone the incitement of racial hatred, so that wouldn't bother them.

Maybe comments that the Freedom Charter is being abused by the ANC because the racism provisions are not being enforced would bother them, but this needs to be raised.

He did a lengthy telephonic interview with Sapa around 09:00 about the criminal complaint against youth leader Malema singing "kill the boers, they are rapists", during which Mthembu at one stage started singing the song over the phone.

I don't think people would be half as upset if they used a word more descriptive of someone pro-apartheid, pro-oppression and generally right wing rather than 'boer'.

There is a large contingent of black people who are also disillusioned with the ANC, make no mistake - educated, or not. The biggest problem is that the ANC panders to the masses enforce prior to any elections, pulling the wool smartly over their eyes, using their seemingly limitless campaign money. Campaign money that no opposition parties will ever be able to muster because they don't have unlimited access to state coffers.

If you guys are so worried about this, why don't you start getting actively involved in a multi-racial political party and work towards ousting the ruling party in the next general elections? Throwing your toys out the cot here isn't going to help anything at all.

Fixing the situation in this country is never going to work with this "us and them" mentality. We need to work together, or I am afraid the ANC is just going continue to dominate the political arena for generations to come.

"Divide and Conquer" is an ideology that has stood the test of time. We are divided, disgruntled black, coloured, indian, chinese, and white people. How easy it is for the ANC to ensure that this remains the case. Do you guys remember the motto, "Unity is Strength"? At least the Boer knew what it meant. It seems the ANC has learned from its past masters.
 
Make no mistake, JM is not dumb or a fool, he is probably quite clever. Why do I say this ... I don't know many dumb people that have become multi-millionaires (regardless of the way they got their money, aside from lotto/gambling/etc). JM knows what he is saying is Racist, and he knows this will go to the press. But what he also knows is that he must say what the masses want to hear if he wants to become more powerful ... and that is all he is doing ... saying what the masses want to hear. I am not saying we should applaud him, or anything like that ... but many people make the mistake of judging him as a fool, I don't think he is a fool at all ... he knows exactly what he is doing and why he is doing it. Do I think he is a racist idiot, yes ... do I think he is a stupid fool ... no ... I do hope that somehow he does not make it into parliament though.

He is a fool. Take into consideration the consequences of his irresponsible actions. Whether you call him an idiot for what he says, or an idiot for not seeing the repercussions of what he says, he is still an idiot. Malema's mindset is an eye for an eye and to quote Gandhi. "An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind."

Back on topic though....I was ranting and raving yesterday in other related threads to this topic...but will say again, in the beginning he might have been a harmless idiot, but the longer he is allowed to continue with this poison spewing mission that he is on, the more strenght he might gather. Never underestimate your enemie. Shut him up while it is still possible. I still think Zille should sue him and show him that even though freedom of speech is respected in this country, there are still lines that may not be crossed, and hate speech is one of them.

Agreed. Malema and the ANC are doing a wonderful job of making a mockery of the Constitution.
 
Malema is by no means smart, at all. His antics are merely a distraction tactic - the more people concentrate on him the less they'll notice what is actually happening in this country.

Any idiot can become a millionaire by means of corruption. That doesn't require intelligence, it requires connections (which he has plenty of). There are plenty of idiots who are millionaires in this country because of the suffering of others.

Malema is singing a song that resonates with the sentiments of a deprived youth. They have grown up in a more-or-less free country and many of their parents are telling them that things were better under apartheid, because there was more employment. The education system is failing them dismally because they're still unemployable. It is easy for the ruling party to tell them that this is the aftermath of apartheid, and that the struggle continues.

When their leaders are squandering massive amounts on pointless memorials, celebrations, and international trips (among other things) it doesn't cross their minds how may jobs this money could have created because they are not getting to see the overall picture. They don't know what is happening in a city one thousand kilometres away from them because Drum, or The Sowetan, is not telling them. They are not interested in politics because they're hungry, or orphaned, or with AIDS. Even if they did know about it, nothing could be further from their minds.

When Malema rolls into their area singing his song, it is easy for him to capture their hearts and minds. It is easy for Malema to hoodwink them and tell them that their government is doing everything in its power to create jobs for them, because that is what they want to hear.

This country will only become a better place if the division between people of all colours who oppose the current government is eradicated. I am afraid the suspicion is too deeply engraved, and the rifts too wide to traverse. The ANC is playing us all like fools, because even though Malema is not the brightest spark under our African sun, there are those who know how to keep us divided, people of all colour, and they're doing a damned good job of it.
