Ana Monteiro of Moneyweb writes about a report by Genesis Analytics that says South African telecommunications costs are among the highest in the world. She says, "For peak local calls, SA was the most expensive of the fifteen countries sampled, and 199% more expensive than the average price. For calls from mobile to fixed-lines (Telkom), SA was the second most expensive out of fifteen countries, and 107% more expensive than the average price. Off-peak local calls in SA were rated the second most expensive of fourteen countries surveyed, and 79% more expensive than the average price. Off-peak mobile calls were the fifth most expensive of fifteen countries surveyed, and 37% more expensive than the average price." She goes on to say, "SA’s mobile costs rated the second highest in the sample, at almost 23 times as expensive as the cheapest product and 107% more expensive than the average price?"

we may know about it, but there are millions of people in SA who still don't know how they are being ripped off... so the more articles like this are published, the better for SA as a whole.

whenever i come across articles like this, i copy, paste and email to everyone in my addressbook ;)
