The problem is... they can't apply the death penalty until the get the REAL story from him.
In other words, who really helped him and where he kept the body frozen for two weeks.

The story he gave in court this week was just a big lie... we need him to give up the other accomplice.
And until he does that, we can't do anything to him.
 
Geez. So no one really cares if the real murderer is out there? You're all just happy to possibly execute the wrong person? And then you slap the ANC in another breath? Wow. Just wow.

What would you do if in a similar situation? Someone forced you to take the fall. Would you not want the truth to be heard? I'm not saying he did/didn't do it but would it hurt to hear his story? What if the real killers are out there? They seem happy to let someone rot at the expense of the real murderers (possibly).

He had his chance when the case initially went to court. he bullsh*tted his way through that and got what he deserves. I definately think that there is much more to this story, but the fool should stop with the lies and just come out and reveal all, atleast for the victims family sake.
Although there may be more to tell, he is definatley guilty of being involved or killing that girl, so he must 'sit'!

Merc, I can tell you for a fact that side of the story was thoroughly investigated by none other than Byleveld himself.
Despite what he may have said in court, Byleveld was fully aware of Donovan's other story.
I know that because Rob Matthews told me that himself.
I also know it because Donovan's Dad (Stephen) and myself spent two weeks at Bond University interviewing students and staff to see if we could get a lead on these so called "Drug Dealers".
There was not one single shred of evidence to support Donovan's wild and unlikely story.
None of the students at Bond were aware of any drugs being sold there and none of them had ever seen any Nigerians in the vicinity.
The French Student name Gaspar knew nothing about any plot to kidnap him.
None of the staff or security personell had ever seen any drug dealers in the area.
The thing about Bond University is that the entrance is at the end of a long road and has a security boom.
So any unsavoury characters hanging around there would immediately be noticed.

I can tell you exactly where Donovan got the wild story from.
The night that he was arrested Donovan said to Byleveld "What took you so long", then he confessed to everything.
Donovan even asked his parent's for forgiveness and told them that he had done it.
Two days later when Donovan met with his first lawyer, a certain Mr. Louis Weinstein, he walked out of that meeting with a different story.
He no longer wanted to plead guilty, and he had a complete Alibi.... this wildly concocted story.
He held onto that cockamamie story for nearly a year until a week or two before the trial when he switched back to his original confession.

So yeah... there is very little point in going down that rabbit trail.
Donovan just needs to tell the REAL truth of what happened that day.
 
Donovan didn't expect to win here. He just made this up for a chance to spend a little time away from "daddy", I hope he got extra every evening after court.

There was / is a similar situation with the "Sizzlers" murders in Cape Town, where the accused refused to even give evidence in mitigation of sentence while facing 8 life terms each - unprecedented in legal history. The judge commented that he was very unsatisfied, but their plea had met "legal requirements" but are a lot of questions that remain unanswered.
