Article: Every SA worker has 3 dependants

It's not just children they're supporting for those of you who are quick to jump on the "but they keep having babies" argument. You need to realize that a lot of people in impoverished areas support their parents and extended families who didn't have the luxury of things like pensions because of... I won't say what.

I know grandmothers looking after their grandchildren because the mothers simply don't care. Regardless it seems that it is accurate

So if I know I am supporting my parents, why would I have even 1 kid if I can not afford it?

They should define dependant, cause the taxpayer is not only supporting his immediate family, but also those millions of social grant receivers.

They should also spell dependent properly :)

But that's the issue. Flippantly I mention our neighboring countries but in reality each of these grantees is costing hard working tax payers money. And for the disabled or the child-headed households or others whose lot in life shows no chance of improving, I accept it. But, for the milkers, which I am sure make a fair portion of the beneficiaries, I am pissed.

Let's see. One cousin had one when she was 15. The other was 19. 2 male cousins were parents in their teens and 3 girls in my grade 12 class were pregnant.

Yip, it's true.

And you didn't have any?

Pfft, coconut.

:p
