A number of flood-devastated areas in the country will be declared disaster areas, Co-operative Governance Minister Sicelo Shiceka said on Friday.

Why are people dying and houses being lost?


About 38 people died, and hundreds of homes were lost in floods which recently gripped parts of the country.

Sounds like day and night to me.

I think people who live in area's without much water can manage far better than people who are getting killed and watching their houses being destroyed.
I can see my comment was a bit much though. Drought is also bad just takes longer for the effects to be felt.

Agreed... drought can destroy the economies of smaller towns / dorpies that were dependant on agricultural-based business.

I really sympathise with the folks in flood hit areas; it's a terrifying experience.
