If if it's true, being the middle east, this whole thing just means that one oppressive government will be replaced by another.

Difference is the anti west dictator is gone so the new oppressive government should be west friendly because they will say to the new guy look what we can do if you are not :D. The west doesn't mind the qaddafi's of the world as long as they are pro west it's go time.

I'm Western, and I do mind.

Ok let's clear this up arthur, the west in terms of war means the armies of the west and people the who run those armies. Much like talking about the US or israel doesn't include their people.

To be honest i don't think the western powers really give a shyte what their people think in all honesty. I will use western armies in the future to keep things clear :p, you can be damn sure if the people in the west ran the armies many many more dictators would fall and not just the anti west ones.

Mugabe would have be gone in 2000 already.

You misunderstand and impute to the West motives they do not have. No immediate Western interests are at stake in Zimbabwe, so Mugabe won't be getting NATO airmail. It's no different from your own approach - you aren't roaming the world putting out fires. But if a fire in your neighbourhood threatens your own house, you'll pitch up with fire extinguisher. If someone were to ask you why, you'd say "it's a good thing to do; house fires are bad". They'd be really silly to criticise you as a hypocrite because you don't sally forth across the planet putting out fires. Ditto the major powers.

Yup no doubt the the west only wants to look after their interests and if a dictator steps out of line they are no longer of interest.

Happened with saddam as well, he did nothing actually and they accused him of having nukes and sponsoring terrorism a claim that has yet to be backed up.

Saddam though was playing with fire by going against the west and he got burnt. Simple really either do as the west say or they will take you down.

Qaddafi being removed though is a good thing but it remains to be seen how it ends up. Can the new government get along or will we have different factions all fighting each other for power like we have now in iraq. Let's hope though they can get along and rebuild liyba.

I also don't go around the earth igniting fires. They do.

So the west comes and saves the Majority of the population being oppressed and it must be that the West has something to gain from it...

Did nothing? Are you serious? You need to start using a new search engine, because your current one clearly doesn't work properly. As to WMD - no-one knew for sure, which was the core issue that led to the invasion and regime change. Besides, his own most senior general who defected a year before the war, said Saddam had a large mobile WMD/bio program, not just the West. Saddam's brutality, regional destabilisation, and warmongering are well documented and easily found using a (western) search engine. Millions of corpses, if you count the wars with Iran. The whole Arab world detested him beyond hate, not just the West. With the Libyan people, I'm delighted the mad colonel is gone. Good riddance.

Not a tinfoil hat, go look at the countries in africa that have needed help for the last decade. Where are the invasions pit? Why are those dictators still in power? Yet the largest oil producer in africa is attacked while the other dictators just go about their business.

When you claim you want to free and help people but ignore people who need help until it threatens your interests i have to question why you then try and act like a hero when you are only doing it because your interests are at stake. I have to ask why africa is in such a mess and only liyba gets help from people claiming the only reason they attacked liyba is to help the people.

It angers me that the only time countries get help is when the west has something to gain from it. Even if they don't need help the west will lie to get what they want. When their interests are threatened they will take action.

O another thing pitbull we were told the iraq people needed help, now look at them they really really need help and everyday there suicide bombs go off, road side bombs etc and of course the civil rages daily. It still remains to be seen how liyba will end up but i hope it doesn't go the way of iraq because that has ended in civil war.

AMEN.

Another thing pitbull is the world basically relies on one country to determine the good and the bad people, for me that is pretty scary.

If they don't like a countries leadership because the country won't bow down and take the load well they declare that country bad and do their thing. Where does it stop? Who could stop them from attacking anyone they determine to be bad?

It reminds of the war on terror, all they do is kill kill kill and say those are terrorists. Who is actually checking up on that, who is making sure they are killing terrorists and not just killing who they think could pose a threat to their interests?

Simple answer is no one which means the US are running the world and telling everyone who is good and who is bad. If that sits fine with you it's good as we all have our opinions but it doesn't sit well with me.

Amusing to see all the mainstream media showing pics of a dead Gaddafi by reporters on the ground while RT links to a nobody American [-]radio host[/-] conspiracy theorist via "broadband" into what looked like his kitchen proclaiming it all to be a hoax based of his monitoring of "green"[Green being the colour of their new flag :erm:} groups.....
