It's a sad reality. Some township guys I grew up with are now unemployed and have no matric because back then their mentality was based on girls, parties, being accepted and being cool. Now they realize that they've made a bad decision and regret it, which is bad for the country because tax payers must (through government) support them. Some of them won't contribute to the economy while others will by getting piece jobs as gardeners and etc.
When young teenagers grow up, emotional decisions are the order of the day. Some kids (whether the child has wealthy parents or poor parents) get caught up in drugs, alcohol abuse, risky sex, etc. So basically those kids need role models and people to look up to, and unfortunately their role models are also on a road to poverty.
