Article: Road users failed SA: RTMC

People are people, and people will test boundaries. IF the boundaries aren't enforced, they will breach them.

Stop treating the public like perfect specimens of morality and start ****ing punishing the people who break the rules.

Well said.

And there should be one set of rules for all of us, not two (or more) sets. Finish en klaar.

what campaign is the article talking about? they content to enforce speeding limits but not unlawful behaviour. chickens they coming home to roost.

that test is a disaster as well. people cant even judge what speed you going at so that they join at a safe place. no they wait until you bloody 20m from them then they turn in infront of you:mad:

Typical shifting of the blame again!
We need people in government who will TAKE RESPONSIBILITY!
We need people in government who will work together between departments to fix the broken system.
The police are poorly trained and there is a lot of corruption.
The courts are overwhelmed and the wheels of justice are too slow.
The public take chances because they are also poorly trained and see no chance of a penalty.

Whose responsibility is this?
If this was a company you would immediately look at the management.

I get the feeling the government is terrified to make unpopular decisions... (etolls notwithstanding - but I think the personal profits involved in that one overcome the fears). And a severe crackdown on roadworthiness and moving violations would be very unpopular with a lot of people.

A breakdown of the causes would be nice too.
Previous years a high percentage was caused by pedestrians and overtaking.

people act like c***ts on our roads ... and there is very little consequence.

Blame the people - typical.

I blame the people for voting for you!!!!

Road users have failed South Africa, not the plan to halve the festive season death toll by 2015, the Road Traffic Management Corporation said on Wednesday.
Oh ja .. and I guess kicking off this non-campaign when the festive season was already well on it's way was part of the strategy too.
What a bunch of chops

Ah yes, shift the blame to the people. Typical.

This is so funny. The people kill each other on the roads and when you blame the people who are killing each other then you say it's shifting the blame. Why bother prosecuting people at all? They are not to blame, it's the government. We should let Jub Jub free, right, after all, it's not his fault he was drag racing and killed people, poor guy, here we are trying to shift the blame onto him - it's the government to blame. Shifting the blame indeed.

We had 113 traffic related personal injury cases in 2012. 93 were pedestrians and 20 were cyclists. In each case they were hit from behind or the car mounted the pavement and hit them. These are the ones that survived the collision. The RAF's average payout was R1.2m with the top one R9m

So then why bother with police at all?

What's the law enforcement doing to stop people from killing each other? Isn't that what their so-called plan was supposed to deal with? I suppose that having a pork chop sit behind a speed camera is the solution to all of our road problems. Because, you know, 'speed kills'.

This is the same as ZUma telling criminals to behave themselves.

lets tell the people to drive nicely. And when we do pull them over with their farked up cars loaded to the heavens, we write them a little ticket and send them on their merry little way. WTF?!

the car is farked and overloaded??

LEts pull over the drunk driver.. and write him a ticket.. if he doesn't pay me a krismaas.

Lets do nothing about drunk pedestrians, they are after all our voters

FAKnuts.

If we were dealing with a population largely made up of people like you, I and the majority of folk on this forum your position might be more tenable.

It's the same reason we have so much crime and lawlessness. Just a different manifestation, we're a very aggressive nation, impatient, entitled, arrogant believe our **** don't stink, take shortcuts, etc. It's in everything that happens in this country.
