Hi

I was playing Splinter Cell: Blacklist and suddenly started getting weird geometric shapes on the screen flashing about, I pressed esc and the menu was full of random flashing colours and stuff.

Is this a sign of something wrong with my GPU? Is there a way to test it? It's a Gigabyte 660 and it's still under warranty.

Its very unlikely to be the game. Games go through quite a bit of QA before its released.

I just booted it up again and played for a bit and had no problem. My temps are around 68C which is pretty normal for load I think. Strange occurrence.

Take the card back, or run a GPU benchmark to confirm it's the card, but 99% of the time when you see artifacts in a game it's the card, the 1% could be the game.

Do you have update 1.02 or later?

Ps What driver version are you running?

It's the Steam install, so I assume it downloaded the update when it first downloaded the game a few days ago.
I just downloaded the latest NVIDIA drivers.

I have played for about 1.5 hours today and it has not occurred again.

Run furmark or MSI Kombustor stress test on it for half an hour. If no problems the card should be fine.I'm running it now and getting 52c on my card.

I could be wrong but I think it's the latest drivers. I earlier in the week installed vs327 which caused my display to freeze at times, display weird cursors and what not. Uninstalled it and everything back to normal. I recall that there was mention from vs320 that the drivers have been wonky.

Artifacts are a sign of an overheating / failing card. Specifically green artifacts.

Also had a problem with artifacts in some games, updated drivers and it stoped
