Artifacts on screen help

More details please. Full spec including psu model, when the problem started (with old GPU or new)

Try reseating the card or checking your screen's DVI port. Dust or other debris in the PCI slot could do this, but usually not to that extent :/

Is your new GPU more power hungry than your old one? (PSU might be under-powering gpu a bit)

Are your gpu drivers up to date? have you tried an older version of drivers?
 
Issue started on old GPU and it only does it occasionally. I checked GPU-z and the temps were below 60 all the time. The artifacts were there with the old GPU, onboard gfx as well as the new GPU.

I have a 550W coolermaster PSU, new GPU is a R 9 285. Have only used the latest drivers for the R 9 825.
 
Unfortunately no, but I am going to try to borrow one.
 
The change of cable seems to have worked. Thanks for the replies.
