Hi guys,

So i have another problem with this card... Now it is artifacting in games at stock. I dont know what is causing this. Is it because the card isnt getting enough power? or is it a faulty gpu?

My powersupply is a huntkey 600w. Running a msi 6870 hawk.

Either card is damaged or the power supply is no good, you only have one option, test it on another power supply and then if it's still artifacting test it in another system and then RMA

At what temps are you getting artifacts? Maybe the card is overheating? If you haven't yet, you could use a program like msi afterburner to log the temps and fan speeds, just to check.

temps max out at 66... So it isnt running hot at all... i did a driver sweep and reinstalled everything but still the same :(

The card makes a strange almost buzzing noise as it starts to artifact... (no it isnt the fans i checked that) seems its comming somewhere along the bottom of the card :/

Happened to me. Shortly afterwards, the card caught fire in my case. Get a fire extinguisher

No jokes. I'm serious.

Hahaha!!! Oh perfect! I researched it and seems like it's coil whine (quiet commom) however its another fault with this card! Taking it back today but have to now wait 2 weeks for suppliers to send a new one! :/

Ok seems like the noise is actually comming from my powersupply. Coil whine on the powersupply doesnt sound good? Could the root of the problem indeed be a bad power supply?

Eish... Do you have a friend that wouldn't mind if you tested your gpu in their machine? It would root out the psu as the problem.

As the GPU starts to artifact, the psu starts to coil whine? it seems like it isnt giving my gpu the correct juice?
