Artists are sabotaging AI to take revenge on image generators

Imagine this. You need an image of a balloon for a work presentation and turn to a text-to-image generator, like Midjourney or DALL-E, to create a suitable image.

You enter the prompt: “red balloon against a blue sky” but the generator returns an image of an egg instead. You try again but this time, the generator shows an image of a watermelon.

Enter the prompt 'lemon party' or 'blue waffle' and take a shot when you get what you asked for

The real problem is big corporates acting indiscriminately and not giving a damn about copyright but hiding behind fair use and "research". Yet it's usually these corporates that cry foal when they feel their copyright has been violated.

Yeah got some weird stuff, some discriminatory. Obviously just pulling data from the beautiful Internet filled with rainbows and unicorns. That's what is nice with Stable Diffusion, you can train it on a much smaller data pool and/or use smaller models. Only thing it is not as creative as these big engines, but easier to guide if you have the time and tools.

I'm not saying you are wrong because some companies are doing this. However, some companies are doing the opposite, like Adobe and Getty, which train their models on their databases and pay artists royalties.

These are paid services, though; if you want it free, like the services harvesting any image, then someone else has to pay...

Flawed technology from the new generation. As with everything else, nothing will work out for them. At some point in time they will likely revert to the Industrial Revolution times again and start afresh. Somehow, I do believe they may get even dumber over years and send themselves back to the middle ages instead.

And by the way, these ain't "Artists". They are morons. All artists died off and there are none left.
