you guy remember my case? they say they come to my place on this tuesday to install my ADSL. Of course they didn't come!!. But actually i have the line since last sunday. And i bought the pots filer as well. finally i have a phone line to the modem and other phone line to the phone(one telephone number).

So what the telkom people come to my place to do (install) if they phone me next week or later time?? I am very wonder.....

And if they don't contact me in the future. must I tell them i did the self-installed already? because i worry they will cancel my ADSL line while i pay a money to my ISP...

Does your guys got any recommend?

What did the telkom people go to your place do? I would like to know what they really did when they install your line...

thx..

all they do is check the line is live - by plugging it into their laptop. They fit the filter. They won't do anything else. Phone your isp and get them to talk you through modem setup.

When you apply for ADSL the first thing that Telkom does is to convert your line to an ADSL line, that in their eyes is already part of the installation fee (I think)

They cannot cancel something that does not exist, you don't have ADSL installed according to Telkom.

But, whatever happens you will be charged the installation fee once they are aware that you did it yourself or that they have done it themselves.

If I was you I would just leave it like it is till they either insist on the installation being done by themselves or they find out you have done it yourself. (there might be a time period for the installation)

There is no such thing as a self install, they will charge you.

All the techie does is plug in his laptop and send an email to confirm installation and from that day on you will be charged for ADSL line rental.

Please, whatever you will do, is done at your own discretion, don't follow anyones advice including mine.

Thank you... i will decide what i do... so if they come one day, must i must wait for them?

As far as i remember the installation is optional - phone the helpline and get advice! - Who is your isp? If telkom - phone them - they have a helpline option for first time setup.

They will charge you, even if you aplied for a self-install.

When you get the bill, phone the Telkom Accounts deot, and tell them that no-one came to your premises.

They will then reverses the charge. It takes about a month though.

what telephone number i must call??

10219 is good at solving these kind of problems.
0800 DSL DSL [0800 375 375] should be used if 10219 does not solve your problem.
Be patient dude ... the peeps on the phone are cool ... it's the peeps that run the show that are stuffing you around !
