To be fair, my partner and I have each owned a single, pre-built, home on our own. I've rented 9 (freestanding and apartments) over the years though (combined 12 together). Some for 6 months but average lease duration for a year. In my younger days I literally just rented wherever I could be closest to work  Did a lot of job hopping for extra $$$ before committing to my own thing.
I'm getting gatvol of renting. The industry is worse the snakeoil bitcoin stokvel schemers.

F***, if you're one day late with your rent Liewe Heksie sleeps under your bed. The fact that the toilet is leaking and pissing water into the foundations... meh, next years problem. Meanwhile you're footing the bill for the water. Over it as well. Self determination is the goal!

I've never been late with rent. But owners do not maintain their properties and agents are snakes, worse than lawyers and car dealers. But what you say is spot on. Nevermind that the contracts the snakes wants you to sign are borderline illegally and put zero responsibility on the owners.... Argh anyways, let me not get worked up now, seeing that the property we currently renting and has a contract in place is advertised online as available by another agent. How pathetic are these idiots.

Anyways, can't wait to not be in this scummy industry anymore.

P. S. Keep us updated on the build process if you don't mind.

I haven't actually been late either but yeah point stands. Very quick to take your money but very slow to stick to their end of the deal.

It works me up so much as well. I had to tell the owner of the current place we're renting to f*** off the other day. He's trying to sell the place, and we've been super accommodating with viewings etc. For some unknown reason, he didn't contact us and helped himself into the property with a new estate agent. I was working in my pajamas and my partner just hopped out the shower in the room next door. Safe to say, I don't think he'll renew the lease

Got so many stories after all those rentals

Was there every any power supplied to the property? Even if just a pump point or the like?

I can't imagine it would be anything but LV for a previous installation, but if it's MV it really has no place on your property.

Yes, the land used to be used for farming but it burnt down in the 2017 fires and the owners never picked it up again. Electricity used to run from the transformer to a small pump house at the dam to supply water for the crops. The power lines in the servitude run to the 3 neighboring farms on that border
